Podfic Deadline Reminder & Project Submission Checklist

Hey all, tomorrow is the podfic deadline! As long as your project is submitted while it's still August 24th anywhere in the world, you're on time!

If you don’t think you’ll be able to finish in time, read over the rules and request an extension. Please email us today if you need an extension instead of waiting until tomorrow.

Here is a checklist of everything you need when turning your project in!

If the text and podfic are in a single post:
  1. Add every group member as a co-author on the AO3 post

  2. Include a download link for the podfic at the TOP of the post

  3. Include a streaming link for the podfic at the TOP of the post (either embedded streaming, or a link to where people can click to stream the podfic)

  4. Make sure the post is published in the pod_together 2025 collection (don't just save it as a draft!)

  5. Contact the mods to let us know you're finished!

If the text and podfic are in separate posts:
  1. Create and publish an AO3 post for the podfic in the pod_together 2025 collection (don't just save it as a draft!)

  2. In the podfic post, include a link to the text post at the TOP of the post

  3. In the text post, include a link to the podfic post at the TOP of the post

  4. In the podfic post, include a download link for the podfic

  5. In the podfic post, include a streaming link for the podfic (either embedded streaming, or a link to where people can click to stream the podfic)

  6. Contact the mods to let us know you're finished!

Also, if your project centers one or more characters of color, please feel free to add it to our Pod_Together Characters of Color Love collection to make it easier to find for listeners who would like to prioritize listening to those stories first!

Final stretch! Good luck to all, and don't forget to give your partner(s) some appreciation once everything's all done!

Fandom Wax Melts

Last year, I offered Pokemon-inspired wax melts as part of the [community profile] fandomtrumpshate Craft Bizarre. Here's my post about it. Fashionably late as usual! Under the cut are some pics of the melts I made for my three winners plus some other fannish wax melts I've made recently inspired by What We Do in the Shadows and the Date Everything! video game.

🐕 Canine Crunch - Rockruff - Citrus 🐕

If the scents don't seem to match, that's because that's what my winner was into (and also... what would Rockruff smell like? Probably not that great, haha.) I was really proud of how the marbling came out on this one! The glitter mix I used was called Sandstorm, which I thought was cool (as it's a Pokemon move).

The rest are under here... )

Bites and Bobs🧛

Some bitesize thoughts, pics, life updates, and general bits and bobs I wanted to share that probably wouldn't have made for an interesting blog post on their own. Feel free, of course, to only read the bits you care about :P

Collages I made recently )

Beaded phone strap progress )

New beloved Pokemon + icons! )

Jigsaw puzzles I've done recently )

I started watching What We Do in the Shadows )

I now have a hearing aid )

PokePod is Back!

Mine and [personal profile] javert's beloved little Poké Fest is back for another round! The DW is [community profile] pokepodproject and signups are open for another eight days (though they'll close early if 100 writers sign up, and we're about halfway there right now so run lol!) PokéPod Project aims to create a fic and podfic about every Pokémon. This is our second round and will focus on the Johto region (Generation Two.)

I had so much fun modding this last year, and I'm so excited to fall in love with new mons thanks to there being stories out there for me to sink my teeth (and ears!) into. I hope my Pokemon-inclined friends here on DW will give it a go if it sounds like something you'd enjoy (or return and have fun with us again 😊)

💙💙💙

Check-In #3

Hello Wonderful Participants!

Welcome to the final check-in! You can check in via email (pod.together@gmail.com), dreamwidth comment (comments on this post are screened), or with a discord message to klb, shmaylor, minnabird, or rockinhamburger. Please try to check-in within 48 hours. We will send a follow-up email to all those we haven't heard from at that time. If you signed up as a group and did not opt in to check-ins, you obviously aren't required to check-in, but are certainly welcome to if you would like!

In addition to the check-in, today is also the deadline to post your text to the AO3 collection. If you haven't already done so, please follow these posting instructions to post to the collection. (If your final product will be audio only, please let us know)

Podficcers, when you check in, please let us know what’s going well, any concerns you have, and where you are in regards to meeting the August 24th deadline (2 weeks from now).

Even if you feel confident about making the deadline, we strongly suggest recording ASAP if you haven't already done so! Pretty much every year we have at least one podficcer who gets sick, loses their voice, and needs a last-minute pinch hit. Hopefully that won't happen to you, but we encourage you to plan your recording schedule as if it might, just in case!

Also, podficcers, please take this check-in as an opportunity, if you haven’t already, to let your writers know everything you loved about the fic they wrote! This is such an important part of the collaborative process and is one that can be easy to overlook in the scramble to get things finished. Don’t make that mistake—this part of the process can be the difference between an overall mediocre collaborative experience and a positive one!

Writers, as long as your podficcer checks in, you’re not required to, but if you’re up for it we’d love to hear about any particular parts of your experience you want to share. The positive will make us smile, and the negative will give us an opportunity to offer help or give us valuable feedback that will help us tweak next year’s challenge to be better!

Some important notes/reminders:

  • Remember to share any edited audio you have with your partner(s), and let them know what you’ve accomplished so far.

  • Once your podfic is complete, you should follow the posting instructions to add your podfic to the collection! Please also let us know when your project is fully finished and ready for reveals! :D

  • As mentioned above, please make sure you are each giving your partners love and encouragement about the wonderful work they have done so far. Tell them what you think is great about their words and/or their audio. Sometimes in the rush to get things done, this step gets skipped, but it’s so important to everyone having a good experience!

  • The Early Podfic submission date is Wednesday, August 20th. After the podfic deadline, mods will create a schedule for revealing completed projects, evenly distributed across a ten-day posting period. Projects that meet the Early Writing AND Early Podfic submission deadlines will be posted first, followed by projects that meet the Early Writing OR Early Podfic submission deadline, followed by all other projects.

  • If you think it would enhance your podfic to have multiple voices contribute, feel free to let us know and we’d be happy to signal boost a search for volunteers!
